Special Goshuin Stamps Created for Japan's National Parks

When traveling in Japan, many people are attracted to the country's ancient shrines and temples, historic castles, and more modern attractions like Tokyo Skytree and Shibuya Scramble.

But Japan also has many natural attractions to enjoy in 35 national parks that stretch from Hokkaido in the north to Okinawa in the south.

These parks are home to snowy mountains, ancient forests and colorful coral reefs. And visitors to the parks can enjoy different activities like camping, hiking, water sports, or just relaxing in a hot spring bath.

To encourage more people from Japan and from other countries to visit these national parks, Japan's Ministry of the Environment has begun a new stamp collection campaign. Visitors will be able to collect unique stamps at each of the parks on a special stamp sheet, which has the name of each park written in Japanese calligraphy.

The stamps are made to look like the traditional red goshuin seal stamps that people can collect at temples and shrines in Japan. And the stamp sheet is used like a traditional goshuincho, or stamp collecting book.

People can either pick up a stamp sheet from one of the national park visitor centers or download it from the Ministry of the Environment's website.

The stamp sheet has a space on it for each national park, which has the name of the park written in English and in Japanese calligraphy. When you visit one of the parks you can stamp this space with a unique seal in red ink. There is also a space in which to write the date of your visit.

There are 36 stamps to collect — one from each national park, and one from Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden in Tokyo. But the campaign is limited, so you only have until March 31, 2027, to collect all the stamps!

スタンプは、日本の寺社で集めることができる伝統的な赤色印影の御朱印をイメージして作られている。 また、スタンプ用の台紙はスタンプ集めに使われる伝統的な御朱印帳のように使用される。

スタンプ用の台紙は国立公園のビジターセンターで受け取るか、環境省のウェブサイトからダウンロードすることができる。

スタンプ用の台紙には各国立公園が記されたスペースがあり、英語と日本語の書道で公園名が書かれている。 公園の1つを訪れた際には、このスペースに特別な朱印を押すことができる。 また、訪問日を記入する欄もある。

合計36個のスタンプを集めることができ、各国立公園から1つずつ、そして東京の新宿御苑から1つだ。 しかし、キャンペーンには期限があり、すべてのスタンプを収集できるのは2027年3月31日までとなっている。
